Welcome to the 12th in our series of 12 tutorials on creating and managing items in the Local Item Editor. In this tutorial, you will learn how to create an “Ordering” Item in IO Assessment.
Let’s get started!

Choose Ordering from the list of Item Types and complete the Item Information and Item Standards (see Test Item Creation Part 1 - Navigating the Item Editor)
Click in the Stem / Prompt section and start typing, use the toolbar to add styling, images, tables, equations, etc . . .
Insert your cursor in the Stem / Prompt area where you want your ordered items to appear (either above or below your text).
» Click “+ Ordering” which will insert a blank box in the stem/prompt area and open up 2 more sections “Objects” and “Correct Order”.
Entering and Adding Objects
Enter either text or an image for each object by clicking inside one of the “Object” areas.
The number of “Objects” defaults to four, to add more “Object” rows click the “Add Object” button.
To reorder the “Objects” just click and drag a handle.
To change the online display of “Objects” click “Horizontal” or “Vertical”.
Setting Correct Order

Drag the “Objects” to the Correct Order using the handles.
Rubrics
Before you can save your item you must add a Rubric, click “Edit”
Ordering items default to 1 point possible and cannot be changed. You can Add Columns (for different traits or facets), but adding columns will not change the points possible.

- Special Fields - will add another section where you can enter any special fields your district has set up. Some of these may include Depth of Knowledge (DOK) and claims/targets. If there is nothing available in the special fields area, and you think there should be, please contact your District Administrator.
- Ordering - will add a blank box into the stem/prompt area, which opens up 2 more sections one for adding your “Objects” and another for setting the “Correct Order”.
